Italian Media Monitoring Company Infojuice Partners with NewsGuard to Provide a More Complete Offer to its Clients while Fighting Disinformation

(New York / Rome December 21, 2021) Italian Media Monitoring company Infojuice today  announced a partnership with NewsGuard, a service that provides human-curated reliability ratings and detailed “Nutrition Label” reviews for more than 7,000 news and information websites.

Infojuice will incorporate NewsGuard’s data into its Brand Analysis products to provide clients with crucial additional context about the news sources covering a client’s brand, adding a new form of information to aid in Brand Reputation management.

“The reliability of a site, and consequently the reliability of the news shared by that site, are information of primary importance to adequately protect a brand,” said Infojuice CEO Omar Signori. “The reliability of the source will become a new metric for Infojuice to describe the trend of a brand, a company, or a public institution. NewsGuard’s data will be also relevant for Infojuice’s market analysis when online information can significantly influence trends.”

By introducing NewsGuard’s into its system, Infojuice hopes to promote informed and conscious consumption of online information by offering its customers a valid, professional, and intuitive tool to distinguish between reliable and unreliable sources. In this way Infojuice’s customers will be able to take the necessary measures to protect their brands and their stakeholders.

NewsGuard’s team of trained journalists use a transparent process to rate all of the websites that account for 95% of online engagement with news in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, and Italy. Each site is rated using nine apolitical criteria of journalistic practice, designed to assess the site’s credibility and transparency practices. Based on the nine criteria, sites receive a score zero to 100. The rating is described in a detailed “Nutrition Label” review, providing transparency to readers and publishers around how each rating was determined.

“We are delighted to welcome Infojuice as our first Italian partner in the media monitoring industry,” said Virginia Padovese, Managing Editor and Vice President Partnerships Europe at NewsGuard. “Media monitoring companies can distinguish themselves from competitors by using NewsGuard’s news reliability data to enhance the media insight they provide to clients. We welcome more partners like Infojuice.”

“As a Media Intelligence company, we too are part of the information ecosystem, and consequently, we too feel the responsibility to contribute to the dissemination of reliable information by stemming disinformation,” said Omar Signori, Infojuice’s CEO. “This partnership with NewsGuard allows us to embrace this challenge with a strong, expert, and reliable partner. We are happy to be able to provide our customers with a simple, intuitive, and effective tool. Disinformation must be fought with the technology we have at our disposal but above all with human intelligence”.

About NewsGuard

Launched in March 2018 by media entrepreneur and award-winning journalist Steven Brill and former Wall Street Journal publisher Gordon Crovitz, NewsGuard provides credibility ratings and detailed “Nutrition Labels” for thousands of news and information websites. NewsGuard rates all the news and information websites that account for 95% of online engagement across the U.S., U.K., Germany, France, and Italy. NewsGuard products include NewsGuard, HealthGuard, and BrandGuard, which helps marketers concerned about their brand safety, and the Misinformation Fingerprints catalog of top hoaxes.

NewsGuard rates each site based on nine apolitical criteria of journalistic practice, including whether a site repeatedly publishes false content, whether it regularly corrects or clarifies errors, and whether it avoids deceptive headlines. It awards weighted points for each criterion and sums them up; a score of less than 60 earns a “Red” rating, while 60 and above earns a “Green” rating, which indicates it is generally reliable.

NewsGuard’s ratings and Nutrition Labels can be licensed by internet service providers, browsers, news aggregators, education companies, and social media and search platforms in order to make NewsGuard’s information about news websites available to their users. Consumers can access these ratings by purchasing a subscription to NewsGuard, which costs $2.95/month and includes access to NewsGuard’s browser extension for Chrome, Safari, and Firefox and its mobile app for iOS and Android. The extension is available for free on Microsoft’s Edge browser through a license agreement with Microsoft, and NewsGuard’s ratings can also be accessed free through the Edge mobile browser. Hundreds of public libraries globally receive free access to use NewsGuard’s browser extension on their public-access computers to give their patrons more context for the news they encounter online.
