Director of Finance

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Director of Finance to oversee and execute a wide range of financial and operational functions. This role will work closely with leadership across departments to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, investor support, and strategic planning. The Director of Finance will manage all aspects of the financial close, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, insurance, HR coordination, and investor relations.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy & Reporting

  • Oversee the monthly close process, financial reporting, and analysis of actuals vs. budget.
  • Partner with the Business Development team to align on invoicing, collections and revenue accounting processes.
  • Prepare the monthly financial reports for the executive team and investors.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategic Planning

  • Lead the annual planning process and set revenue forecasts.
  • Partner with department heads to translate business strategy into financial targets.
  • Partner with the business development team to develop revenue forecasts and key performance indicators.
  • Drive accountability through real-time budget vs. actual tracking.

Cash Management & Compliance

  • Monitor cash flow, burn rate, and runway forecasts.
  • Manage audits, insurance renewals, and tax filings (domestic and international).
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and SaaS-specific accounting policies.

Equity, Board & Investor Relations

  • Maintain cap table and option grants via Carta.
  • Support board meeting preparation and investor updates.
  • Respond to due diligence and audit requests from investors.

International Finance

  • Manage financial operations for international entities, including filings and compliance.
  • Support global expansion by setting up financial infrastructure in new markets for payroll.

Team Management & Tools

  • Manage financial onboarding & offboarding of new employees; set up in Gusto, offer letter, proper tax set up

Good candidates for this job will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
  • 5–7 years of experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years at a role at a high-growth startup or technology company.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS business models, including experience with revenue recognition and subscription-based reporting.
  • Proven ability to be in the weeds on a day to day basis and also able to think strategically and long term for the business.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in finance tools such as QuickBooks, Bill.com, Gusto, Carta, and Excel or Google Sheets for modeling and reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating cross-functionally with executive, operations, and business development teams. Experience building or managing a small team and implementing finance processes and tools from the ground up. 

Salary

USD $120,000-$150,000 dependent on experience, plus stock options
